Using image recognition and augmented reality, The Gateway explores emergent spiritual belief in the digital age. Using an smart phone application built using the Unity software, the application paints Tik Tok videos over declassifed government documents. Influencers play the role of charismatic leaders, offering their interpretation of scientific and reality-bending jargon. An unseen algorithm invokes meaningful synchronicity. Spiritual experiences become mythologized as young people integrate esoteric practices into their daily lives.
